August 28, 2014, Regina, Sask. – The Government of Saskatchewan has begun work on the pre-design phase of the twinning of Highway 39 in Estevan.

According to a report from the Regina Leader-Post, the pre-design work includes a geotechnical investigation, environmental assessment and surveying.

The twinning project involves the stretch of Highway 39 between Estevan and Bienfait, a significant corridor for the movement of goods to and from the U.S.

The location study should be wrapped up by the end of 2015. Once it has been completed, the project will move into the functional study phase.
