April 25, 2018 - LafargeHolcim has appointed Feliciano González Muñoz (54) as its new head of human resources (HR), effective May 1, 2018, reporting to CEO Jan Jenisch. He will succeed Caroline Luscombe who has decided to pursue opportunities outside of the company.
April 24, 2018 — Trimble announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held Viewpoint from Bain Capital in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.2 billion. Viewpoint is highly complementary to Trimble’s e-Builder business, and will extend Trimble's ability to provide more complete and integrated project, jobsite and business workflows across the construction lifecycle.

April 13, 2018 - Doosan Infracore North America, LLC, has expanded its dealer network with the addition of Ottawa-based Eastrock Equipment Canada as an authorized sales, service, parts and rental provider of Doosan equipment.

April 11, 2018 - Metso has agreed to acquire the mobile crushing and screening plant provider P.J. Jonsson och Söner, based in Sweden. With the acquisition, Metso aims to strengthen the breadth and availability of its product and service offering for the aggregates industry in the Nordics. The company's sales in the fiscal year 2017 were SEK 342 million (EUR 33 million).
April 10, 2018 – Following a distinguished career spanning nearly 30 years with the company, Caterpillar Inc.announced that group president Rob Charter has elected to retire. Since 2015, Charter has been a group president of customer and dealer support (C&DS).
April 10, 2018 - Building permit values issued by Canadian municipalities totalled just over $8.167 billion in February 2018, up approximately 6.5% from over $7.667 billion in February 2017; but were down 2.6% when compared to January 2018 ($8.384 billion), according to recently released data from Statistics Canada.

April 4, 2018 - On Dec. 12, 2017, Ontario’s Construction Lien Act Amendment Act, 2017 was passed into law. Its substantive changes will come into force on a date to be determined (or “proclaimed”) later this year. Among other things, these will change the name of the Construction Lien Act to the Construction Act.  
April 4, 2018 - You could sense the excitement in the air at the latest edition of World of Asphalt, which took place this March in Houston, Texas. Approximately 8,500 attendees flocked to the George R. Brown Convention Center from all over the world – including representatives from all 10 provinces. I bumped into a few of the Canadian contractors and asked about how 2018 is shaping up for them.

March 27, 2018 - CASE Construction Equipment has named Michel Marchand as vice-president for North America, replacing Scott Harris who has taken a similar role at CASE IH. Marchand, who previously served as the regional sales director for Canada, will now oversee all CASE Construction operations in North America.
