vogelepaverMarch 7, 2014, Las Vegas, Nev. – Day three at CONEXPO
revealed more new products from the floor of the show, a breakthrough
technology from an unexpected source, and a new colour at a surprising company.

Wirtgen Group held its official media event, unveiling the
newest products from Vogele, Wirtgen, Hamm and Kleemann. Wirtgen’s booth
includes 41 machines from the four brands, including the largest display of
pavers anywhere at the show. As for the new product highlights:

  • With eight pavers featured eight different
screeds on display, Vogele was the largest paver display at CONEXPO. The newest
release is the Vision 5200-2i features a maximum paving width of 28 ft., with a
maximum laydown rate of 1,300 tph, and a transport width of 10 ft.
  • The show is the World Premiere for the W 200 Hi
milling machine. The W 200 Hi milling drum offers a hydraulically driven
milling drum assembly that can be displaced 15.75 in. (400 mm) to the right or
the left, providing contractors maximum flexibility for operating in tight
    quarters.
  • The most unique new product at the Wirtgen Group
stand is the Hamm H 25i VC. The Hamm H 25i VC roller is a single-drum vibrating
compactor outfitted with specially designed teeth that will break concrete more
effectively than special-purpose guillotine, “finger” or ultrasonic concrete
    breakers.
  • The new Kleemann releases include two products
first launched at BAUMA 2013, the MC 110 Ri EVO and MC 110 Zi EVO mobile jaw
crushers, as well as two new impact crushers, the MR 110 ZSi EVO 2 and MR 130
Zi EVO 2. All four machines are Tier 4 final-compliant.

In addition to the news from Wirtgen Group,
Philippi-Hagenbuch is again making a splash for an innovative new product, but
this time, it has nothing to do with tailgate or water tank solution.

LeRoy Hagenbuch has invented a new product called the
Rolling Wedge, a new cutting system for trenching through frozen ground,
concrete and even asphalt. The patent pending technology features a set of
hardened steel or hardened steel featuring carbide teeth that use a free
wheeling cutting motion to rip through tough materials in a fraction of the
time using conventional tools. Stay tuned to Rock to Road for more news on this
emerging technology.

Finally, a company traditionally known for painting the show
green has been singing the blues this week for all the right reasons. McCloskey
International has introduced a brand new Trenchless Equipment Division, which
will use a blue and gold colour scheme as opposed to McCloskey’s traditional
green and gold colours. The first product from the new division, the TR14, was
on display at the McCloskey booth and has already generated buzz, and sales, at
the show.

Stay tuned for more from CONEXPO in the days and weeks to
come, including full new product releases on the biggest new machines,
technologies and innovations launched at the show.
