screenmediademoOctober 24, 2013, Columbia, S.C. – Metso presented new
services initiatives and the latest in crushing and screening technology at the
company’s 2013 Quarry Supply Solutions & Industry Knowledge Expo, held
October 8-10 in Columbia, South Carolina. More than 120 distributor
personnel and nearly 100 end customers from throughout the Americas
participated in the Expo, which featured a packed agenda of educational
seminars, discussion sessions, hands-on demonstrations and equipment displays.

Making it easy

The first two days of the Expo were reserved for Metso
distributors, providing details of many positive new initiatives, and bringing
fresh meaning to Metso’s vision of “Working as One to be Number One.” The scope
of the new initiatives included the Quarry Supplies program, improved
distributor network coverage, plans to grow the contractor market segment, and
a renewed commitment to operational excellence and improved availability.

A key element in making it easier to do business with Metso
is the new Quarry Supplies initiative, which brings together screen media, wire
mesh, linings, and conveyor belts, components and accessories in one package,
available in one step from one source. This new Quarry Supplies program
provides Metso crushing and screening distributors with a new value
proposition, creating selling opportunities for quarry consumables at every
site.

Getting together

Metso welcomed both distributors and end customers to the
third and final day of the Expo for a dynamic event at Metso’s Columbia
Distribution Center.

In addition to classroom seminars, Metso also presented
live, hands-on demonstrations on the factory floor, including screen media
installation, GP220 stroke change, HP-X cone bladder installation, pump failure
analysis, and vibrating screen and conveyor products. Product displays included
a C120 jaw, GP220 cone, TS, ES and CVB vibrating screens, wear parts, screen
media and conveyor components and accessories. Columbia’s new rubber injection
molding press for screen media, capable of producing up to 25,000 panels per
year, was a popular stop for the guests. A large outdoor equipment display gave
visitors a close-up view of Lokotrack mobile crushers, screens and conveyors.

Adrian Quigg summed up the 2013 Expo by noting that Metso
understands the challenges customers face, and can advise and support them in
their quest for greater efficiency and lower operating costs: “We invited customers to come here and take
advantage of some of our technical expertise. Our customers are very keen to
optimize their processes and be as efficient as they possibly can, and get
every dollar they can of reduction in cost per ton, and Metso is very focused
in providing the best possible cost per ton for the products we support.”
