New four-lane bridge comes to Dawson Creek

May 25, 2021  By Rock to Road Staff

Both directions of Highway 2 at 8th Street in Dawson Creek will be closed starting on Tuesday, May 25 at 7 a.m. MST, to begin the construction of a new four-lane bridge.

The work is planned between 110th Avenue and 106th Avenue to replace three culverts following the Peace flood event in 2016. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has worked with the City of Dawson Creek to coordinate the project schedule and traffic closures. Construction will conclude on Friday, May 28.

Passenger vehicles needing to get around Kin Park from 110th Avenue to 13th Street, can take a detour from 10th Street to 106th Avenue. The detour for commercial vehicles follows the dangerous goods route back to either highway 2 or 97. No delays are expected on either detour route.

Drivers are reminded to observe posted speed limits, traffic control devices and flag persons. For the most up-to-date information before travel, check: www.DriveBC.ca
