MTO, OGRA sign asset management agreement
The Ontario Minister of Transportation has formally signed an agreement permitting Ontario municipalities to advance municipal asset management through the use and adoption of OGRA's Municipal DataWorks (MDW) application.

February 22,
2010 – The Ontario Minister of
Transportation, the Honourable Kathleen Wynne and
representatives from the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA) formally signed an
agreement today permitting Ontario
municipalities to advance municipal asset management through the use and
adoption of OGRA's Municipal DataWorks (MDW) application.

The funding, provided by the
Government of Ontario, will give Ontario
municipalities the tools needed to inventory their assets, track life cycle
events, monitor condition and develop asset management plans, which will lead
to sustainable infrastructure. This investment will also provide critical
information on the state of municipal infrastructure that will allow the
Province to assess municipal on which to base future funding programs.

The mandate of the Ontario Good
Roads Association is to represent the infrastructure interests of
municipalities through advocacy, consultation, training and the delivery of
identified services.
