March cement production on the rise

May 11, 2016 – Cement production grew to 794,188 tonnes in March, a 3.5 per cent gain over production levels in March of last year (767,132).

According to the data released by Statistics Canada, production grew 47.1 per cent over February, which recorded an adjusted production of 539,791 tonnes.

Shipments of domestic cement rose to 694,306 tonnes, up 2.2 per cent versus March of 2015 and 45.9 per cent higher than the previous month.

Including imports, shipments rose to 701,860, up 4.2 per cent from the same period in 2015.
