Key West Asphalt awarded resurfacing contract for Highway 1

July 6, 2018  By B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure

People travelling near Chilliwack and Hope, B.C. along Highway 1, soon will enjoy an easier drive with 42 kilometres of resurfacing work starting next week.

The project will include resurfacing three main sections of the highway:
• From the Young Road Overpass to Annis Road, through Chilliwack;
• From the Bridal Falls Underpass to the Yale Tunnel, through sections in Hope; and
• A segment of Dogwood Valley Road, south of Yale.

On Highway 1, the work will involve milling and filling sections of the highway, including associated passing lanes, as well as resurfacing the Hunter Creek Rest Area and scales. Dogwood Valley Road will be rehabilitated by replacing the existing surface.

The majority of work will be done outside of peak traffic periods to minimize delays for commuters. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer.
