October 19, 2015  By  Andrew Macklin

October 19, 2015 – With the official opening of 53 kilometres of newly twinned highway last week, less than 20km remains in the massive Highway 63 project in Alberta.

According to an article from Fort McMurray Today, approximately 94 per cent of the project is now complete. The total amount of twinned highway, between Grassland and Fort McMurray, sits at 221km.

According to a Ministry of Transportation official, 169km of twinning was officially completed in 2015. Most of the preparatory work for the final stretch of road has been completed, but with winter just around the corner, officials are not announcing an official date for the project completion.
