This multi-million dollar facility, currently in the process of LEED certification, will help Hewitt bring an even broader product offering and service to customers in the region.

With its 65,000 square feet of floor space, the new Wabush branch is six times larger than the previous branch. The branch offers customers four fully-equipped state of the art service bays and two wash bays able to accommodate massive Cat 777 haul trucks and 988 wheel loaders and is also set up to service the CT660, Caterpillar's first vocational truck released last spring. The branch also offers customers an expanded warehouse open seven days a week, two shipping and receiving docks, a dedicated hose centre, training rooms and a new Hewitt Rentals Inc. store.

The facility has been designed to achieve LEED Certified status and is 25% more efficient than National Energy Code standards. Among other energy-saving elements built into the new Wabush branch, the mechanical equipment has control systems to optimize their operations, material such as the steel used during construction and the new office furniture all contain recycled products, the lighting systems have low mercury content and the plumbing fixtures installed guarantee low water consumption. The facility was adapted for Wabush's long, cold winters and is covered with 5-inch insulation architectural panels and an 8-inch thick, high performance roof.
