July 15, 2015  By  Andrew Macklin

July 14, 2015 – Groundwork is being done west of Clarington in preparation for upcoming work on the expansion of Highway 407 through the community.

According to a report from Clarington This Week, work being done on the interchange of Highway 401 and Holt Rd. is providing the dual purpose of providing infrastructure for the refurbishment of the Darlington nuclear plant, as well as for the construction of Highway 418, which will provide a new link from Hwy. 401 to Hwy. 407.

Blackbird Consortium, which won the contract for the construction of Phase 2A of the Highway 407 expansion, plans to begin prep work on the stretch from Harmony Road in Oshawa to Clarington this fall. Phase 2A should be completed by late 2017, with Phase 2B, running to Highway 35/115, is set to be completed by the end of 2019.
