May 19, 2015 – The federal government has provided its approval of the proposed land swap between the Tsuu T’ina Nation and Alberta Transportation, helping to clear the way for the southwest portion of the Calgary Ring Road.
According to a report from the Calgary Herald, only an official sign-off from Minister of Aboriginal Affairs Bernard Valcourt remains for final approval of the deal.
Once that approval has been officially received, Alberta Transportation will have seven years to complete the southwest portion of the Ring Road, which runs from Glenmore Trail to MacLeod Trail.
Alberta Transportation is currently working towards securing a partner for P3 construction of the section of road, with completion set for 2021.
