The co-located shows will feature more than 350 of the industry’s leading manufacturers and service providers in the aggregate, asphalt, pavement maintenance, and traffic safety industry sectors; as well as more than 50 educational sessions through the AGG1 Academy.
Here are a few of the latest aggregates- and asphalt-related technologies that will be on display.
KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens
The ProSizer 3600 is a single-load crushing plant for processing virgin aggregate and recycled materials. Its 36” x 46” horizontal shaft impactor can be paired with conventional or high frequency screens to meet your application needs. This crushing plant can be powered by diesel, electric or hybrid power. The portable ProSizer 3600 offers the same efficient and reliable performance as the company’s stationary and mobile plants, and provides versatility for ideal application flexibility. The hydraulic drive allows for variable rotor speed without loss of power, providing up to 25 per cent more production over clutch-driven units.
The innovative 10-ft. tracked Super 2000-3i and 8-ft. wheeled Super 1703-3i pavers will be displayed at the Wirtgen America Inc. booth. These pavers - designed specially for the North American market - are used in both highway and roadway construction, and large-scale commercial applications. Also on display will be the VÖGELE SUPER 700-3i commercial paver, small to large-sized Wirtgen cold mills, and a variety of different-sized Hamm rollers, including the Hamm DV+ 90i VO-S rigid-frame, drum-steer, split-drum roller, and the North American introduction of the Hamm HD+ 90i PH hybrid power train tandem roller. A Kleemann Mobirex impact crusher for processing RAP, other recycled materials and general crushing will also be shown. Delegates also will be welcome to operate two simulators which emulate compaction using the new DV+ rollers, and cold milling with Wirtgen’s exclusive WIDRIVE technology, respectively.
Available in 200hp to 500hp models, the Patriot cone crusher features Superior in-house Vantage Automation, which monitors and controls crusher parameters. Unlike most crusher models, the Patriot cone’s counter-shaft spins in a counterclockwise rotation. This causes the crusher to open if clamping pressure is lost, reducing risk of catastrophic failure. The Patriot cone crusher is backed by the two-year standard warranty, in addition to one-year wear parts protection.
Kespry provides a complete solution for aggregates, mining and construction companies to better manage inventory, mining and earthworks operations. Accurate survey-grade field data can be frequently collected for the entire site in approximately 30 minutes using the completely automated, joystick-free Kespry Drone solution. Hours after the flight, stockpile volumetrics, cut-and-fill calculations, and design plan progress tracking can be evaluated and shared across the entire project team.
The 401 horsepower John Deere 844K-III Aggregate Handler configuration is purpose built for two-pass loading with increased power, larger tilt cylinders, higher hydraulic pressure and increased counterweighting to handle bigger material-handling buckets (9.3 cu. yd./9.8 cu. yd.), reduce fill time in processed aggregates and ultimately conserve fuel in applications. New enhanced performance buckets boast a narrower integrated spill guard and curved side cutters to improve load visibility and load retention. The Aggregate Handler option cuts loading time by 30 per cent with reduced fuel consumption by eliminating that third pinch pass.
Haver & Boecker
Haver & Boecker’s F-Class is ideal for screening situations that require consistent, load independent performance at constant g-force. The manufacturer equips cambered decks on the F-Class with its Ty-Rail quick-tensioning system, which cuts media replacement time by up to 50 per cent. Each F-Class pairs well with the company’s signature Tyrethane media, including Ty-Wire, Ty-Max and Ty-Deck. Haver & Boecker also offers the Pulse vibration analysis program to monitor the ongoing health of vibrating screens. An optional chassis offers vibrating screen portability as well as simple setup.
Gencor’s portable Ultraplant is one of the most fuel efficient, environmentally clean and lowest maintenance designs available to the hot mix industry. With a 66-inch drum width and 24,350-pound operating weight, the DD110C rounds out the highway-class double drum compactor series from Volvo, which also includes the recently introduced DD120C (79-inch) and DD140C (84-inch) models. The DD110C is available with Compact Assist with Density Direct, the industry’s only Intelligent Compaction (IC) system that displays real-time density calculations; ActiveCare Direct, a unique 24/7/365 machine monitoring and utilization reporting service offered directly from Volvo; and a range of other industry-unique offerings such as an 8-amplitude drum and Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty. The DD110C has a rated engine power of 148 hp; and a vibration frequency of 3,800 vpm.
ADM will feature the EX120 asphalt plant at booth 2636. The 120-tph plant features single-drum counterflow technology and meets all federal and state emission regulations. The plant boasts the longest aggregate drying and mixing times in the industry, resulting in a low cost per ton. In addition, the plant is capable of processing as much as 50 percent RAP. Counterflow technology with separate drying and mixing zones allows the EX120 to achieve maximum heat transfer and fuel efficiency. The system virtually eliminates unsafe carbon emissions that are a common problem with other drum mix plants. The entire plant sits on one chassis for easy transportation.
Luff Industries has entered into a strategic partnership with SKF in the SKF Equipped program beginning 2018. In order to combat roller failures due to bearing contamination, Luff Industries’ Idlers will come standard with SKF Ball Bearings. SKF Ball Bearings are designed with an improved seal, have been greased for life and provide increased L10 life. Combining the SKF Ball Bearing with Luff Industries’ high quality rollers and patented end cap design will provide customers with unmatched sealing protection. Polydeck Screen Corporation
Kwikdeck is a revolutionary new system that gives wire cloth users an opportunity to try modular rubber panels without altering their existing frame. No cutting or welding and your original crowned deck surface remains intact. Simply remove the wire cloth section(s) and bucker bar covers and put Kwikdeck covers on in their place. Lay SnapStraps across the width of the machine, re-torque the side clamp rails, install the modular rubber screen panels and you’re done. AGG1/WOA will mark the North American debut of McCloskey International’s full size impact crusher, the I44v3, redesigned following worldwide field site visits. Significant changes to the impact crusher line include direct drive, an enhanced material flow path, larger pre-screen, and a more open chassis. Each sectional component is wider than the last to allow an unrestricted flow without funnelling or narrowing, eliminating material bridging.
With its 760.3-hp (567-kW) diesel engine, the BM 2200/75 delivers high-performance milling of half-lane widths reaching 86.6 in. (2,200 mm) at depths of up to 13.8 in. (350 mm). Its 35.4-in. (900-mm) wide conveyer hydraulically folds for efficient transportation, and the upper conveyor swivels 60 degrees left or right of centre for efficient material discharge.
The new Cat 988K XE is the first wheel loader offered by Caterpillar with a high-efficiency electric drive system. The new loader features switched reluctance (SR) technology and leverages more than 15 years of Cat electric drive experience. The loader offers a range of bucket capacities from 6.2-17 cu. yd. Rated standard and high lift payload for the loader reaches 12.5 tons when working with face material and 16 tons with loose material.
Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology tools for asphalt milling, road planing, ice scraping, trenching, tunneling, and mining are some of the toughest in the industry, thanks to the company’s superior, patented carbide alloy tips. Sandvik’s design team is constantly working to develop advanced hard material alloys that function in the most demanding environments. The company’s latest generation of patented carbide grades, manufactured using an innovative process technique with completely new raw materials, has made it possible to create new, extra-coarse, super-tough alloys with perfectly uniform grain structure. The benefit is that the tip’s material grade can be better matched to the application.
Bergkamp Bituminous Solutions introduces a High Sheer Colloid Mill that can efficiently and cost-effectively produce asphalt emulsions that contain higher percentages of asphalt. The mill’s rotor and stator are designed with more teeth, placed closer together, to transfer greater shear energy into the materials, increasing the mill’s power and efficiency. Manufactured with a special steel alloy, the rotor and stator do not easily wear or corrode. Bergkamp’s mill is designed to produce consistent particle size distribution, improving breaking and curing time, as well as the emulsion viscosity. The mill’s PSD (particle size distribution) increases the shelf life of the emulsion and improves its ability to arrive intact at job sites. The mill is backed with a five-year warranty and onsite service.
Process Heating Company
Process Heating Company Lo-Density electric heating systems provide safe, clean, reliable and 100 per cent efficient heat for asphalt tanks, hot oil circulating systems, fuel oil preheaters and asphalt/emulsion distributor trucks. The heaters feature low-watt density electric heating coils inside of a drywell that spreads heat over a larger surface area within the tank or system, keeping the heater’s sheath temperature decreased. Low-watt density heat reduces damage to liquid AC, emulsions, and transfer oil; keeps buildup/coking to a minimum; and greatly extends heater life. The drywell design allows service personnel to remove and perform maintenance on the heating elements without draining the tank.
