EPIROC releases new quarrying rig with integrated smart technology
May 29, 2023 By Rock to Road Staff

May 24, 2023, STOCKHOLM – EPIROC began the rollout of their latest flagship radio-remote drill rig, the SMARTROC T25 R, which features a smart Rig Control System that the company says helps to future-proof digital functions and reduce the rig’s climate impact through fuel optimization.
The compact rig is designed with a low centre of gravity, wide crawler spacing, and maneuverable boom system with the goal of maximizing terrainability and stability. Models are available with a turning radius of 45/45 or 90/90 and can be combined with a 5.5m or 6.1m boom system, which provide the SMARTROC with coverage areas of 28m2 (45/45) and 45m2 (90/90), respectively.
Coverage area is further maximized by a rotation unit providing a 360 degree feed swing and boom geometry designed for machine-adjacent drilling. A 180 degree boom swing angle and three different available feed lengths further expands the range of applications.
“We have listened to our customers and developed a rig that will provide the operator with a wide range of valuable features,” EPIROC’s global product manager, Marcus Leü, said in a press release. “The SmartROC T25 R offers a service-friendly design with easy access to important components. Fuel consumption has been optimized, and the rig is extremely powerful in relation to its size, allowing for use in demanding applications in confined spaces.”
