The New Rock to Road

Working to provide a better magazine for our readers.

It has been over a year since we at Aggregates & Roadbuilding first discussed the opportunity to change the magazine. Months of deliberation over logo designs, content priorities, and conversations with members of the industry have brought us to this point, and now we are proud to unveil the new Rock to Road.

If you access any of our online tools, you know just how confusing our brand was previously. To access the magazine online was to visit www.rocktoroad.com, or look for news updates by following us on Twitter @RocktoRoad. It didn’t make sense that you would then be sent a copy of a magazine called Aggregates & Roadbuilding. Having a consistent brand both online and in print was a natural progression.

But the rebranding to Rock to Road is about much more than the unification of print and online properties. Any time you rebrand a business, you have the perfect opportunity to develop better content, create a better design and provide new ways for people to get more involved. The move to the new brand has incorporated all of these things, with the result being a better magazine for you, the reader.

In order to provide better content, we are communicating with contractors, associations and equipment manufacturers to figure out what needs to be discussed about the Canadian rock to road industry. That includes covering provincial issues with national implications and providing even more information about new products and emerging technologies making their way to Canada. We are also introducing a new column, Best Practices, which will provide industry expertise about the best way to conduct a variety of day-to-day operations within your company.

Our new design has been developed to create a cleaner, easier-to-read magazine that also provides a solid layout to help you access the information you need.

Making a better magazine also involves you. It takes understanding where the industry was, is, and looks to be in the future, and providing content to match. To do that, we have already introduced our Top 20 under 40 contest to recognize the next generation of the rock to road industry, and provided our back page column, One More Load, to anyone in the industry who wants to tackle an issue that needs to be addressed. In the months to come, we will continue to work with you to find out how we can best serve the rock to road industry, and we invite you to tell us about what is happening with your operation that we should know about.

I hope you will enjoy the inaugural issue of Rock to Road. I would appreciate any feedback you might have about the transformation. Please feel free to e-mail me at amacklin@annexweb.com.

Enjoy the magazine!
