Dunford, lawyer to appeal judgment

December 11, 2015  By  Andrew Macklin

December 11, 2015 – Keith Dunford, the man sentenced to two years in jail minus a day in the death of flagperson Ashley Richards, is filing an appeal over the ruling in the case.

According to the Weyburn Review, Dunford’s lawyer Aaron Fox is appealing both the sentence handed down and the conviction itself. Fox is citing legal errors made by Justice Krogan in her deliberation of the case.

On August 24, 2012, Dunford struck and killed Richards as she was working as a flagperson for HJR Asphalt on a section of Highway 39 near Midale, Sask. An RCMP analysis showed that Dunford was speeding well above the posted limit while travelling through the construction zone when he struck Richards.
