Dufferin Receives Approval for Amendment to Paris Pit Site

13, 2012, Paris, ON –Dufferin Aggregates, a division of Holcim (Canada) Inc.,
has received approval from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), under the
Aggregate Resources Act, to re-locate the entrance at their proposed gravel pit
site in Paris, Ontario.

has received approval from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), under the
Aggregate Resources Act, to re-locate the entrance at their proposed gravel pit
site in Paris, Ontario. The re-location will improve traffic flow at the site
entrance.

“We are
and remain open-minded to listen to the concerns of our neighbours and are
pleased that we received MNR approval to re-locate the site entrance for our
planned pit in Paris,” says Kevin Mitchell, Manager of Land Development and
Ecology, Holcim (Canada) Inc. “This amendment, as well as our original license for
the Paris Pit, clearly state that we must operate in accordance with all applicable
provincial and federal standards and legislation. We are also committed to
operating in a manner that takes into consideration the interests of our local
community stakeholders.”

 

As part
of these continued efforts to work together with the local community and make
improvements to the Paris Pit Site Plan and its operations, Dufferin Aggregates
will be conducting pre-consultation meetings to discuss the upcoming Permit to
Take Water (PTTW) application. These meetings aim to further the dialogue with
the community and stakeholders regarding water takings planned for the Paris
Pit site.  Dufferin Aggregates plans to schedule
meetings with neighbours, the general public, local community groups such as
Concerned Citizens of Brant, First Nations groups, the DFA Paris Community
Advisory Panel, as well as the County, Grand River Conservation Authority, the Ministry
of Environment and Ministry of Natural Resources. The purpose of the
pre-consultation meetings is to gather relevant feedback related to the PTTW
application.

 

As
Dufferin Aggregates continues to work through the process of opening the Paris
Pit site, the Company is committed to working with the community and addressing
any questions that may arise.
