Cornwall quarry expansion moving forward

January 25, 2016  By  Andrew Macklin

January 25, 2016 – Cornwall Gravel is going ahead with its expansion plans after receiving final approval at an Ontario Municipal Board decision.

According to an article from the Cornwall Standard-Freeholder, the 62-acre expansion east of the current quarry originally received certificate approvals in October. However, the Ministry of Natural Resources requested wording changes to more accurately reflect the certification, which delayed the project.

Nearby residents used the OMB to address concerns about the expansion, including issues pertaining to dust, water and the use of explosives. The issues were addressed by the quarry owners, or dismissed by the OMB, allowing the project to move forward.
