CEMEX USA has invested more than $6 million to establish a new aggregate plant in Alabama.

The Brierfield Plant, located about an hour from Birmingham, began operations in June 2021. It is processing aggregates under the name RM USA Aggregates.

The operation is expected to produce close to 600,000 tons of asphalt stone, concrete stone and base annually.

Prior to the plant’s opening, CEMEX had taken a 10-year hiatus on aggregates production in the state. Brierfield is now a resource for local customers as well as CEMEX’s Ready Mix USA concrete operations in Tuscaloosa, Vance and Alabaster.

The Brierfield Plant joins CEMEX USA and Ready Mix USA’s pre-existing network in Alabama, which consists of one cement plant, three cement terminals and more than 30 ready-mix concrete plants.

In a statement, CEMEX says it continues to look for strategic growth opportunities across the U.S.
