Cat expands soil stabilizer line with two new additions

June 1, 2023  By Rock to Road Staff

May 16, 2023, IRVING, Texas – Cat has expanded their line of soil stabilizers with the release of the RM600 and RM800. Both models feature adjustable height design capable of cross slope cutting and significantly higher engine capabilities than previous machines in the line.

The Cat C18 engine featured in the RM600 and RM800 provides them with 17 per cent and 42 per cent more power than Cat’s RM500B, respectively. The engine also features a cooling system focused on reducing emissions and extending maintenance intervals to 6,000 hours for the RM600 and 12,000 hours for the RM800.

A belt-driven rotor system allows for flush cutting on the right side of the machines, with bi-directional cutting also available as an option. Both models can cut up to 96 inches wide and 20 inches deep, with a rear rotor chamber door float feature giving operators control of down pressure in cutting operations.

Each machine features front-to-rear weight distribution to provide stability during touch cuts, with standard electronically-controlled all-wheel drive adding traction and mobility. Slippage is further reduced by two high-tensile, six-ribbed belts. For operations involving uneven terrain or challenging soil stabilization applications, four height-adjustable legs provide eight degrees of slope in either direction.

Compatible water and emulsion spray systems from Cat are also available for these machines, with these systems’ computerized metering delivering a variable flow rate of 30 to 1,990 litres per minute for water and 30 to 850 litres per minute for bitumen emulsion.

Controls in the operator cab are grouped by function and supported by a 10-inch full-colour touchscreen. Floor-to-ceiling glass on the right side and cameras mounted on the front and rear provide operators with increased visibility, with optional side-mount cameras also available. The fully-pressured cab also features air conditioning and a heater/defroster.

Both machines also come with built-in diagnostic tools.. Standard Product Link provides machine condition, operating and location data, and is compatible with Cat’s Remote Services. Machines can be virtually diagnosed prior to dispatching a technician using Remote Troubleshoot, and Remote Flash is designed to ensure the machine is working with the latest software and updated convenient to production schedules.
