Caledon council approves one-year freeze on gravel pits, quarries
October 24, 2022 By Caledon Enterprise
Caledon town council has approved an interim control bylaw (ICBL) to prohibit gravel pits or quarries for all lands in Caledon, Ont. that have high potential mineral aggregate resources for one year and a supplementary aggregate resources policy study.
The Town said the study will inform the Caledon official plan and related policy documents, such as the town’s zoning bylaw, and will help with the goal of Caledon planning Caledon.
Several residents questioned why this move by the council was coming so close to the election.
