Beware of unofficial show requests

May 28, 2015  By  Andrew Macklin

May 28, 2015 – A company using the name and exhibitor list of the World of Asphalt show is sending potentially costly letters to past exhibitors.

The company, known as Expo-Guide, is sending requests for updated information for event listings for the show. The letter uses both the World of Asphalt and Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) brands, but is in no way associated with either.

If an exhibitor or hapless employee happens to sign and return the letter thinking they are updating some form of free show listing, they are in fact buying a long-term ad agreement. The very fine print of the letter states that signing the letter comes with an advertising cost of $1676 per year for three years.

If you receive any communication like this, we recommend that you contact the show organizers directly to determine whether or not this is an official show-related request.
