Inc., introduces Mobile Support Units that supply Bergkamp’s
M1 Series of full-size, continuous slurry seal and micro surfacing pavers with
aggregate, asphalt emulsion and water while they work, increasing the amount of
tons-per-hour paved. Available in three models ranging from 11 yd3
(8.5 m3) to 21 yd3 (16.2 m3), their lightweight
design allows for maximum material capacity, helping to avoid truck overweight
citations. To connect to the paver, a Mobile Support Unit slowly backs up to it
while in the same lane. Arms on the truck hitch engage the rim on the back tire
of the Mobile Support Unit. Once attached, the M1 Series paver pushes the Mobile
Support Unit placed in neutral while the Mobile Support Unit operator steers. A
paving crew member then connects the Mobile Support Unit’s asphalt emulsion
tank and water tank to the paver and opens the gate to the aggregate hopper, allowing
the paver to continually produce and place the surface treatment to reduce
construction joints and increase paving rates and pavement quality.

Bergkamp offers three Mobile Support Unit
sizes to match job size and accommodate local weight and bridge laws. The smaller
truck-mounted MS11 holds a level struck load aggregate capacity of 11 yd3
(8.5 m3) and 530 gallons (2,006 liters) each of asphalt emulsion and
water. Bergkamp’s most popular model, the mid-sized truck-mounted MS13 is best
for most jobs and holds a level struck load aggregate capacity of 13 yd3
(10.0 m3). This model can also transport 560 gallons (2,120 liters)
each of asphalt emulsion and water. When even larger capacities are needed, the
trailer-mounted MS21 can be used to transport a 21 yd3 (16.2 m3)
level struck load aggregate capacity and 1,000 gallons (3,785 liters) each of
asphalt emulsion and water.  For added
versatility, Mobile Support Units can also be used as traditional material
haulers.
