This webinar will be free for every member who has paid for their 2021 membership. There will be no registration fee for the 2021 convention.

Letter from executive director John Ashton,

ASGA executive director John Ashton.

Hi, I’m John Ashton, and I serve as executive director for the Alberta Sand & Gravel Association. We’re at the point in our year that we would normally be opening registration for our yearly convention in January. But, like most associations, we’re not going to be able to hold our traditional convention this January. The chances that we’ll be allowed to safely put 300 people in that ballroom at the River Cree at that time are pretty slim. We know that this comes as a disappointment. These days, it often feels we’re losing these professional and personal events daily.

However, we do want to give Alberta’s aggregate community an experience to fill the void. We also want to make sure we’re still holding ourselves to account and fulfilling our obligation to hold a business meeting and a board of directors election in 2021.

We also know that the sponsorship and the trade show we normally hold are a key part of our associate and consultant members’ marketing plan. We also know a lot has happened in this past year, particularly on permitting with Alberta Environment and Parks, and we want a chance to tell you about it.

“So, on Wednesday, January 13th, we’ll be holding a half-day webinar convention. This webinar will be free for every member who has paid for their 2021 membership. There will be no registration fee for the 2021 convention,” Ashton.

We’ll have our traditional business meeting, along with two or three panels talking about environmental permitting issues and other content important to your business. We’ll announce our full agenda in the fall, as per usual.

Every member who has paid for their 2021 membership will get a web link e-mailed to them a week beforehand, as well as a webinar convention program, just like you would get at convention.

We can’t hold a trade show, but we will offer sponsorships to members who want to promote their business and brand through the ASGA convention Sponsorships will range in price from $350 to $1,000. ASGA members will get an e-mail with the sponsorship information and form to fill out.

We know that this isn’t the convention we all look forward to every year, and there’s no replacing that opportunity for networking and knowledge-sharing. But, we’re going to do our best for 2021 with content on environmental permitting, municipal governments and more.

“I do want to make it clear: we do intend to return to the River Cree Resort and hold our traditional convention in January of 2022. Everyone on the Board and Staff will be working to make that happen,” Ashton.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for supporting your association and your industry.
