July 7, 2014, Wrigley, N.W.T. – The Pehdzeh Ki First Nation
are eagerly anticipating the construction of a northern extension of the
Mackenzie Highway through the community.

According to a report from CBC News North, Band Manager Mark
Macneill is working to discover how the highway expansion, running north
through Wrigley, could help provide a level of economic prosperity for the
community.

Macneill expects that the first phase of construction of the
northern Mackenzie Highway extension, a 333km stretch from Wrigley to Norman
Wells, could begin within the next few years.

The Pehdzeh Ki first Nation is home to some of the largest
gravel deposits in the region, making the community a likely destination for a
construction hub during the highway’s expansion.
