Alberta commits $1.8 billion for Calgary ring road

March 10, 2014, Calgary, Alta. – The Government of Alberta
will provide $1.8 billion in initial funding to begin work on the final section
of the Calgary ring road.

will provide $1.8 billion in initial funding to begin work on the final section
of the Calgary ring road.
According to a report from the Calgary Herald, the money
means that construction of the road could begin as early as 2015.
Part of the $1.8 billion commitment will address the
remaining design work needed for the southwest section of the road, while
another $340.7 million will be used as part of the agreement reached with the Tsuu
T’ina First Nation for part of the land needed for the road. The agreement is
still pending approval from the federal government.
