December 13, 2016 - The HX1 prototype autonomous, battery-electric, load carrier from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has scooped the Swedish Institute for Quality’s (SIQ) Quality Innovation of the Year Award. Winning in the Potential Innovations category, Volvo CE’s vision of a futuristic machine is one element of a present-day electric site research project that is predicted to cut carbon emissions by up to 95% and lower total cost of ownership costs by a quarter.
December 9, 2016 - OSSGA learned that the Justice Committee has met and established a timeline for hearings on Bill 39. The Committee will meet for two days of hearings, Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 and Thursday, March 2, 2017. 
December 2, 2016 - In the ongoing quest to create greener aggregate operations that produce less carbon emissions, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has partnered with its customer Skanska Sweden, the Swedish Energy Agency and two Swedish universities to create an electric site research project designed to electrify certain transport stages in quarry operations from excavation to primary crushing and transport to secondary crushing.

Aggregate producers, through site design and the use of berms are generally able to effectively mitigate the noise to acceptable levels. But some designs and locations make it necessary to look for enhanced ways to mitigate noise.
November 24, 2016 - Bill 39 is "enabling" legislation that will provide new powers to the Minister, with the details of those powers to be addressed through regulation, standards and policies to be developed at a later date. Given this phased approach, OSSGA’s submission proposes changes to the legislation to include language and enough detail to help forestall any unintended consequences in the future.
