Niagara plunging almost $78 million into road repaving, reconstruction

This year the Niagara Region will invest almost $78 million into its road repaving and reconstruction program, and has identified more than 66 lane kilometres of roads to be resurfaced and rehabilitated.
The following projects are either under construction or will be starting soon:
- Reconstruction of Dominion Road (Regional Road 1) from Helena Street to Lakeshore Road in Fort Erie is underway
- Intersection Improvements at Thorold Stone Road (Regional Road 57) – Roundabout at Victoria Avenue and Bridge Street (Regional Road 43) in Niagara Falls is underway
- Glendale Ave (Regional Road 89) Diverging Diamond Interchange, in partnership with Ministry of Transportation in Niagara-on-the-Lake, is underway
- Reconstruction of Pelham Road (Regional Road 69) Phase 3 from Wessel Drive to Eighth Avenue in Lincoln is underway
- Road resurfacing will start June 20 in Thorold on Highway 20 (Regional Road 20), along the S-Bend east of the Allanburg Bridge from Centre Street to railroad tracks, west of Allanport Road (Regional Road 82). Drivers are advised to take alternate routes if possible and avoid the area during peak travel times
