Highway 407 and Highway 412 tolls start next month

January 5, 2017 – No more free rides for Ontario’s commuters in the Greater Toronto Area. Starting February 1, tolls for driving on the Highway 407 extension and Highway 412 will begin.

The Province of Ontario’s 407 extension runs from Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road in Oshawa, connecting to the privately-owned 407 ETR; while the 10-km, north-south Highway 412 connects to the Highway 407 extension and Highway 401 in Whitby.

These extensions are part of the multi-phase Highway 407 East Project.

The second phase of the project, currently under construction, will expand Highway 407 from Harmony Road to Highway 35/115 in Clarington and build Highway 418, another 10-km, north-south highway that will connect to the Highway 407 extension in eastern Durham Region and Highway 401 near Courtice. 

The second phase of the Highway 407 East Project is expected to be complete by 2020, with an interim opening from Harmony Road to Taunton Road at Highway 418 by late 2017.
