August 19, 2015 – Crews have begun tearing down Montreal’s Bonaventure Expressway, constructed in 1966 as part of the infrastructure boom in anticipation of Expo 67.

According to a report from the Daily Commercial News the Expressway, which is six lane freeway and terminus of Autoroute 10 that links the Champlain Bridge with the business district, will be torn down in two phases, with phase one completed by the end of 2015 and phase two by the end of 2016.

The bridge is being torn down as part of the construction of a new nine-lane urban boulevard. The boulevard, featuring four northbound and five southbound lanes, is scheduled for completion in 2017.
