Provincial funding falling short?

June 17, 2015  By  Andrew Macklin

June 17, 2015 – The Mayor of Timmins, Ont. believes that funding for northern roads is falling well short of the actual need.

According to an article from Northern Ontario Business, the $15 million being provided by the Ontario government does not cover the costs that the program is stated to cover.

The Connecting Links program was established by the provincial government to cover approximately 90 per cent of road and bridge rehabilitation costs downloaded by the province. However, Timmins Mayor Steve Black has stated that, in reality, the program only covers around 10 per cent of the cost.
