Ontario considering roadside safe texting zones

May 24, 2016 – Unanimous support for a Private Members Bill may pave the way for roadside safe texting zones in Ontario.

According to an article from the Toronto Star, the Bill, introduced by Progressive Conservative MPP Vic Fedeli, would provide roadside signage indicating upcoming locations where motorists can safely pull over to use their phones. The zones will includes 185 already-existing locations such as commuter parking lots and rest areas.

Distracted driving has been the number one cause of death on Ontario highways for the past three years.
