Miller Group founder passes away

January 13, 2016 – One of the most influential men in the Ontario road construction industry has passed away.

Leo McArthur, the former owner of McAsphalt Industries founder of the Miller Group, passed away Monday after a long illness according to an article in the Owen Sound Times.

The Owen Sound native was the former owner of McAsphalt Industries who, along with his partners, purchased Miller Paving in 1976. McArthur went out to exponentially expand Miller Paving, now known as the MillerGroup, into a multi-faceted operation that spans several industries and employs more than 4,000 people.

McArthur is survived by his wife Helen, Daughter Shawneen and son Blair.

Visitation will take place in Richmond Hill at The Sheraton Parkway Hotel, 9005 Leslie St., Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will follow Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 150 St. Francis Ave. in Woodbridge.
