Hwy. 404 sound barrier design nears completion

October 7, 2015  By  Andrew Macklin

October 7, 2015 – The Ministry of Transportation has almost completed its work in designing sound barriers for a section of Highway 404 in the Toronto area.

According to a yorkregion.com report, the completion of the design of the project will then trigger the release of a tender for the $7.3 million project for the summer of 2016. The 2.67 kilometre noise barrier is being implemented in East Gwillimbury, part of the recent northern extension of the highway.

The project comes as a result of noise complaints launched by both residents and council members. Originally, MTO had ignored requests to install noise barriers through the region.
