December cement production rises

February 16, 2016 – Cement production rose in December 2015, versus the same time last year, by 10.3 per cent according to information released by Statistics Canada.

Cement production in Canada for December 2015 was reported as 820,736 tonnes, up from 744,453 in December 0f 2014. From month-to-month, production in December declined by 26.1 per cent from November, which saw production of 1,111,121 tonnes.

Shipments of domestic cement rose year-over-year in December, with gains of 5.5 per cent over December of 2014 (788,930 vs. 747,786). December 2015 shipments were down 20.1 per cent against the November shipment of 1,082,055.

Overall, July was the largest cement production month in 2015, at 1,314,811 tonnes. September was the highest volume for domestic shipments of cement, with 1,325,530 tonnes of cement shipped.
