City, contractor sued over pedestrian death

May 13, 2016  By  Andrew Macklin

May 13, 2016 – The family of a woman killed when struck by a motor grader at a Sudbury road construction project is suing the paving company, the driver and the municipality for $2 million.

According to a CBC News report, the claim states that proper safety measures were not put in place to protect pedestrians from the active road construction, and suggests a vast array of suggestions for the grader driver’s ‘negligent’ operation of the machine.

The City of Greater Sudbury has denied any wrongdoing on its part according to its statement of defence. The paving contractor, Interpaving, has yet to file its own statement of defence.
