Calgary's Ring Road delayed

July 18,2009 - The Alberta government and the City of Calgary are looking to find a new route for the southwest leg of the city’s ring road, the Journal of Commerce reported last week.

City planners must develop a new plan after Tsuu T’ina First Nation members voted against a deal that would have built part of the road on the reserve. The Alberta government spent $6.3 million on environmental studies, planning and engineering work to try to secure an agreement.

Premier Ed Stelmach said the province’s target for completion of the entire ring road by 2015 is no longer realistic.
