Andrew Macklin Trimble releases new products at Intermat
Written by Andrew Macklin
April 16, 2012, Paris, France – Trimble made a splash on day one of Intermat Paris by introducing six new products as part of their display at the show. The new releases cover a wide range of products offered as part of their positioning solutions.

Version 2.4 of Trimble’s VisionLink software provides integration of site productivity data, asset and fleet management, and volumes and material movement information using 2D Project Monitoring. This will allow contractors to get a collective view of the productivity of all machinery involved across the job site and the organization as a whole. The newest VisionLink version also provides a mobile application, giving contractors the ability to track productivity on mobile devices.

The Trimble Connected site solution, which combines the Trimble Connected Office, the Trimble Connected Controller, and the Trimble Connected Machine, is designed to help heavy civil construction professionals by saving time and costs at every stage of a project. The Office software is built to provide the contractor with control over the preparation of assets for the job site, including 3D construction models, fleet and asset management, site productivity monitoring, and wireless data sync. The Controller software allows for modifications to the Trimble Site Positioning System from anywhere via the Internet. The Machine software provides remote asset management and machine productivity tracking capabilities.

The addition of a GPS guidance configuration system for the Trimble GCSFlex Grade Control System will extend functionality for the CB450 Control Box. Combined with in-field design templates created from the cab on the Control Box, the GPS guidance will now enhance an operator’s ability to accurately dig to a desired depth, slope or alignment without an in-office design.

The Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System version 12.2 includes Trimble GradeMax technology, which is said to substantially increase the overall grading performance of dozers and allow the operator to create a faster, more accurate, and more consistent grade. The new version also includes the Connected Machine software to wirelessly sync data between the machine and the office in the hope of decreasing machine downtime and create greater productivity as a result.

The SPS985 GNSS Smart Antenna is designed to perform high accuracy construction site measurements. The alloy used in the antenna’s construction is designed for strength and durability to meet the daily abuse of the construction site. The antenna is fitted for multi-function usage to meet the needs of the contractor, with the ability to be used as a base station or rover. The addition of WiFi, Bluetooth, and optional wideband radio capabilities allow for easy integration into an existing construction site.

The new positioning solution for tunneling contractors incorporates Business Center – HCE office software powered by Trimble, the Trimble® SCS900 Site Controller Software Tunneling Module operating on the Trimble Tablet, and the Trimble SPS930 Universal Total Station. As part of the Trimble Connected Site® portfolio, the integrated office to field solution allows contractors to quickly, safely and accurately perform tunnel construction, while monitoring progress in real-time.
