Caterpillar invests further in Texas plant
Written by Aggregates & Roadbuilding
Aug. 4, 2011 – Caterpillar Inc. announced Aug. 1 plans to increase its manufacturing capabilities and capacity for hydraulic excavators to be produced at a facility now under construction in Victoria, Texas. In August 2010, Caterpillar announced it would build the excavator plant, investing about $130 million to open the 850,000-square-foot operation.

The additional $70 million investment announced recently, which will include another 200,000 square feet under roof and the addition of selected fabrication manufacturing for excavator production, will translate into 100 additional jobs.

Excavator production in Victoria is expected to begin in mid-2012.

Once fully operational, the Victoria facility will produce seven excavator models and employ 600 people.
