Canada’s foreign trade improves significantly

Feb. 14, 2011 – That’s more like it. Canada’s merchandise trade balance in December 2010 was +$36.0 billion in annualized current CAD (Canadian) dollars, according to Statistics Canada, its highest level since October 2008. Not coincidentally, October 08 was also the start of the recession in Canada. In the intervening period, Canada has encountered particular problems in its trade with the U.S.

Canadian exports to the world in December 2010 were +9.7% while imports were up only 0.7%. Exports to the U.S. charged ahead even faster, +10.8%. Imports from the U.S. were +2.3%. | READ MORE
