Local MPPs motion to review aggregate legislation

Nov. 15, 2010, Toronto –  Local MPP Rick Johnson wants to send the message to aggregate companies that 'no means no' when it comes to denied applications. On Thursday (Nov.4), Mr. Johnson introduced a resolution at Queen's Park that was passed by the Ontario Legislature, requesting the government review the Aggregate Resources Act.

The MPP requested that "if a proponent opts to reapply or demands a site plan reassessment for a quarry and/or pit within five years of being denied, the proponent must cover all of the costs for the government to do an additional peer reviewed study, a cumulative impacts study, and a new series of public consultations." | READ MORE
