Nov. 3, 2010 – The advance of total construction material prices remained modest (+2.3% year over year) in September, based on industrial product price index (IPPI) and raw material price index (RMPI) information released by Statistics Canada.
As for the three major sub-categories of overall construction, material prices in engineering/civil work (+3.5% year over year) have outpaced those in non-residential building (+2.7%) and residential (+0.6%) over the past year.
Residential material prices have been relatively stable since late 2005. The lengthy period of little movement has corresponded with the onset of illness followed by convalescence of U.S. housing starts from early 2006 on. | READ MORE
