Vulcan Materials Profit Drops

Nov. 2, 2010 – Vulcan Materials Co., the largest U.S. producer of construction aggregates, said Monday after the markets closed that its third quarter profit dropped 76% from last year, hurt by lower sales and weaker margins. The company's quarterly earnings per share also came in well below analysts' expectations as did its quarterly revenue.

The Birmingham, Alabama-based company reported net income for the third quarter of $13.2 million or $0.10 per share, compared to $54.2 million or $0.43 per share for the year-ago quarter. | READ MORE
