Leica
The Leica Geosystems next-generation 2-D cutting-edge guidance system for excavators makes excavating easier and more productive. Using the same panel on a dozer, excavator or grader saves money on training and equipment while minimizing down time. The system allows multiple elevations and slopes to be constructed at any orientation, without resetting the machine or laser height reference.

Leica PowerDigger 2D provides unique safety features and the new PowerDriller function – ideal for maintaining verticality for excavator drilling attachments. The PowerDigger 2D also reduces costly rework while eliminating over-excavation and grade-checking.

Thanks to PowerSnap, Leica Geosystems machine guidance systems are not restricted to just one machine. PowerSnap is a cable-free system that allows users to swap control panels between traditional grade and slope and 3-D machine controls completely seamlessly as the job demands.

The core components can be removed for overnight security, while the cradle stores machine-specific settings. By adding a 3-D control box and GNSS sensors you can upgrade to a 3-D guidance solution that allows you to excavate according to the 3-D design model on your panel.
PowerSnap also lets new customers manage their investment path as they move into machine control by offering complete backwards compatibility and affordable upgrade paths from traditional laser/slope control – all the way up to 3-D GPS technology.

The Leica PowerDigger 2D gives users all the information needed on a rugged control box with a 3.5-inch full colour graphical display that allows complex designs and profiles to be constructed quickly and conveniently. The system features a simple user interface with intuitive graphics and function keys that provide instant access to important functions.

Leica PowerDigger 2D provides unique flexibility and is fully upgradeable. Customers can start with single grade operation and upgrade the system as needed to a full dual grade system by adding a rotation and tilt-bucket sensor. The contractor can use the same hardware installation platform for any machine type – be it a dozer, grader or excavator.

Leica PowerDigger 2D is available now through all authorized Leica Geosystems Machine Control dealers.

Ammann
 ammann
Ammann now offers the same ACE technology on its AVH 6030 model, a three-shaft high performance vibratory plate compactor, as it does on its heavy equipment line. The introduction of ACE on this model allows intelligent compaction control across a range of soil and asphalt compaction applications.

ACE, the Ammann Compaction Expert, is an electronic measuring and control system for vibrating rollers that automatically adjusts the amplitude and frequency to suit the characteristics of the ground. The system has been available in larger Ammann machines for several years, helping operators to achieve target levels of compaction without over-compacting or loosening material.

ACE-equipped machines provide continuous measurement of absolute compaction values, automatic adjustment of compaction parameters and comprehensive documentation of the compaction process. The operator is provided with real-time information and response improves profitability on the jobsite by reducing the number of passes to achieve compaction targets, reducing the time and cost to complete the project and by eliminating over-compaction or demolition of the material.

The system automatically reduces the compactor amplitude in hard areas, and increases amplitude where load capacity is low. The operator is presented with a clear and simple display of machine and compaction data; including continuous readings for current amplitude and frequency. The display also provides the recommended speed for optimum compaction, so the operation can be completed accurately in the fewest possible passes.

In addition to completing jobs more efficiently, compactors equipped with ACE can show their operators where soft spots or uncompacted areas are located in the material so they can improve the quality of the layer. As a result, ACE leads to a more homogenous compaction throughout the material, and ensures the uniform load-bearing capacity through all layers to provide an ideal base for asphalt.

Doosan
doosan
Doosan has launched the new DL420, an articulated wheel loader with a larger, more powerful diesel engine than the DL400.

With a bucket capacity of 5.2 cubic yards, the DL420 is designed to take on a wide range of material handling tasks, from loading and transporting granular material (such as sand and gravel) to industrial, mining and quarrying applications.

The 49,163-pound DL420 is powered by a 659-cubic inch, six-cylinder turbocharged Cummins QSM11 electronically controlled engine with a high-pressure unit injector system and a state-of-the-art combustion system. Emissions are well below Tier 3 regulatory limits.

The engine develops 280 horsepower at 2,000 rpm and offers maximum torque of 1,070 pound-feet at 1,400 rpm for optimal traction and breakout force in loading-transport-handling applications.

Hydraulically controlled, multi-plate wet disc brakes and dual brake circuits provide positive braking power. A spring-applied/hydraulically released (SAHR) parking brake is mounted on the transmission shaft to prevent the loader from rolling after engine shutdown. An optional electric-powered emergency steering system backs up the hydraulic power steering system in case of a malfunction, and a safety device prevents starting the engine when not in neutral.

To reduce fuel consumption and lower noise levels, the DL420 loader features a hydraulically driven, variable speed engine fan with an electronic thermostat that constantly monitors engine coolant and transmission oil temperatures. The fan direction can be reversed from the cabin to quickly clean out the radiator in dusty environments.

The DL420 provides operators with improved visibility and lower cabin sound levels. A powerful heating and air conditioning system, a roomier cabin, ample storage space and a comfortable seat also help to reduce operator fatigue. A single lever control for travel functions and front-mounted attachments is an available option.
