Hydraulic breaker safety manual updated by AEM
Sept. 22, 2010 - The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has produced a completely updated safety manual for carrier mounted hydraulic breakers. The manual reflects current industry practice in machine design and construction as well as up-to-date industry best safety practices. The most common carrier applications are skid steer loaders, compact excavators, hydraulic excavators and loader backhoes.

The updated Carrier Mounted Hydraulic Breaker Safety Manual (Form CMHB-1004) replaces the AEM Hydraulic Mounted Breaker Safety Manual (Form MB-140).

AEM safety manuals offer cost-effective safety education for equipment operators, maintenance personnel and others working with the equipment. The manuals illustrate typical worksite and equipment hazards as well as safe practices in equipment jobsite preparation, operation, maintenance and transport. They are ideal for group safety sessions or individual use.

The AEM Carrier Mounted Hydraulic Breaker Safety Manual has expanded by nearly a third, to 60 pages. Graphics reinforce the safety messages and are in pictorial style to harmonize with the latest machine safety sign and manufacturer manual practices. Additional or expanded material includes safe mounting and dismounting; utility locating practices; attachment installation; installation, use and maintenance of quick-couplers; and use of newer safety design features such as gate or armrest-based hydraulic control locks.

AEM's safety and training materials cover more than 40 types of off-road equipment and are available online (www.aem.org) in the AEM Store. Some safety materials are offered in downloadable files or in DVD format. AEM members receive discounts on select materials.
