A New path but a solid foundation
Bill Tice

Bill Tice

Sept. 15, 2010 – Since its inception 24 years ago, Aggregates & Roadbuilding magazine has provided readers nationwide with the best information possible to help them stay in touch with rock to road industry trends. From up-to-date news and information, to detailed features on aggregate plants, case stories on quarry and highway construction, taxation, land use, trucking and more, the intent has always been the same: highlight the very best the Canadian industry has to offer while delivering it in a comprehensive, accessible package.

It’s a successful approach that has worked for years, and it’s precisely the road new editor Bill Tice hopes to follow in the months and years ahead. Tice took the helm of the magazine September 15 as editor Andy Bateman stepped down to pursue other opportunities in the aggregates sector. Tice brings a strong business-to-business editorial and industry background to the magazine. He has served as the western editor and editor of Canadian Forest Industries magazine, a resource magazine with its own roadbuilding challenges, as well as editor of Canadian Wood Products, a sawmilling and engineered wood publication with a strong technical bent.

Tice also worked with Finning Canada, the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer, for ten years on a freelance basis, producing feature and news items on quarries, road building projects, aggregates and heavy equipment. He has completed a number of photography projects for a large construction company, including documenting airport runway projects and road building projects, and is a professional photographer. He has also worked with folks in this industry, including Lafarge Canada, on several writing and photography projects. Finally, he did regular writing for two US national publications - Stormwater and Erosion Control.

This included covering major road building and construction projects and how storm water systems and erosion control impacted the projects. Please join us in welcoming this publishing professional to our team.
