Old Capilano Bridge move completed early
June 20, 2010, West Vancouver, B.C. – The moving of the Old Capilano Bridge has been successfully completed ahead of schedule and two westbound lanes of traffic have been restored on Marine Drive.

The bridge was moved June 19 in order to establish a detour route that will be required for construction of the new bridge as part of the $40-million Marine Drive/Lions Gate transit improvement project.

About 25 staff worked on the move, which began shortly after 6 p.m. and finished just before midnight. The early completion was attributed to the extensive advance planning by the design and construction team.

Motorists are advised that traffic patterns on this section of Marine Drive have changed and to use caution.
