Housing Starts Remained Strong in September

October 12, 2008 - According to the Ontario Stone Sand & Gravel Association (OSSGA), over 440 tonnes of aggregate are used in the construction of every house. With that in mind, aggregate producers may take some comfort from housing starts data released by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).




New rules for Ontario’s construction industry
September 24, 2008 - A new regulation for the construction industry in Canada’s biggest employment market took effect on September 1, 2008. The regulation relates to return to work and re-employment, promising fairness and clarity for both construction employers and injured workers.


AEM mid-year report: construction equipment exports up 24 percent

Exports of U.S.-made construction machinery gained 24 percent at mid-year 2008 compared to the first half of 2007, for a total of more than $10 billion dollars worth of equipment shipped to global markets, according to data released by the Milwaukee, Wisconsin based Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
