Construction growth booms in Saskatchewan
Feb. 29, 2012, Regina, SK - Saskatchewan is leading other provinces in construction employment growth, and though it has attracted more new workers than most provinces, industry leaders say meeting labour needs over the next decade remains a challenge.

Paver of the Year announced at ORBA
Feb 25, 2012, Toronto - The Paver of the year, as well as runners' up were announced at the Ontario Road Builders Association AGM held in Toronto February 6-7. The awards are given out by Ontario's MTO.


CBM to expand quarry near Hillsburgh

Feb 25, 2012, Hillsburgh, Ont. - CBM Aggregates is proposing a four phase 153 acre expansion of its pit north of Hillsburgh. The item came up at council on Feb. 21 in a staff report from its planner, according to an article in the Wellington Advertiser.

Feb. 24, 2012 – Athabasca Minerals Inc. has announced that it has received a technical report dated Feb.15, 2012 with respect to the Kearl property and a technical report dated Feb. 15, 2012 with respect to the Logan property.

Asphalt plant costs broken down
Feb. 24, 2012 – The cost of the cease and desist petition filed against asphalt plant operator Whistler Aggregates last spring cost the municipality $267,174, while the cost of plant owner Frank Silveri’s fees were $13,552 — not the $16,300 reported previously.

Additive helps pave major airport

Housing starts beat January forecast
Feb. 11, 2012, Ottawa - The seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts was 197,900 units in January, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). This is down from 199,900 units in December 2011, but still ahead of most analyst forecasts.
