Aecon joins JV on Quebec's Autoroute 30
April 30, 2010 - Aecon Group Inc. has announced that announced that its Infrastructure Division has partnered with Acciona Infrastructures Canada Inc., Dragados Canada Inc., and Verreault Inc. in Nouvelle Autoroute 30 CJV, s.e.n.c. (NA30 CJV), the construction joint venture carrying out the expansion of Quebec's Autoroute 30.

World demand for asphalt to expand by 2013
April 30, 2010 - An article in today’s International Construction (IC) reports that world demand for asphalt cement is forecast to expand by +2.1% annually from a weak 2008 base to 108 million tonnes in 2013.

New Ontario laws for violence and harassment

April 12, 2010 – Bill 168, the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Act (Violence and Harassment in the Workplace) comes into force on June 15, 2010 and requires all provincially-regulated employers in Ontario to protect workers against violence and harassment in the workplace.



Construction employment on the mend

April 11, 2010 – Canada’s employment edged up by 18,000 in March, continuing an upward trend that began in July 2009, says the latest Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey.  The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8.2%.
